Harrogate Grammar School is an ‘outstanding’ non-selective teaching school, providing secondary education for 11 – 19 year olds.

Harrogate Grammar School is committed to becoming a world class school in which standards of achievement are outstanding for all students and in which all individuals benefit from being part of an inspiring, supportive and dynamic learning community that achieves excellence for all.

The school converted to an Academy Trust in March 2011, was one of the first Teaching Schools in the UK and is a lead partner in the Red Kite Alliance. Teaching Schools, like Teaching Hospitals, are centres for the training and development of teachers and are chosen because they demonstrate outstanding practice and have the capacity to help others improve.

The Sixth Form saw record-breaking exam results in 2015 with a total of 66 per cent of all A level grades being at A*-B, this places the Sixth Form at the very top of comprehensive schools in North Yorkshire. GCSE results, where students achieved five or more at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics, put Harrogate Grammar School in the top 100 non-slective state-funded schools in North Yorkshire.
