Youth Board
Keen to learn from our young people, to give them a voice and an opportunity to help shape the future of our Trust, in 2023, we set up our Red Kite Youth Board.
Our Youth Board comprises two representatives from each of our schools, with a Chair for Primaries and a Chair for Secondaries. The Youth Board meets every half term, setting their own agenda to discuss ideas and initiatives that are important to them. Ideas and views are shared with the Trustees and Leaders in our Trust, influencing what we do and how we work together as a community.
To date, the Youth Board have focused on sustainability, including kick starting a brilliant rewilding project, and events they would like our Trust to organise, including our first Red Kite Olympics. Consultation with the Youth Board on our Trust plans for the next 5 years will start in September 2024.
Danica, Chair of Primary Schools
Our Primary School Representative for this year has been Danica. Danica is the representative for all the Primary schools across our Trust. A pupil at Meadowfield Primary School, Danica gains the views of her peers and presents them during our Youth Board meetings. Being the Primary Chair, Danica is the voice of the children here at Red Kite Learning Trust, a role which has seen Danica blossom in confidence, whilst addressing local and global issues.
Blake, Chair of Secondary Schools
Blake is the reporesentative for all Secondary Schools this year. Blake is a Year 12 pupil from Temple Moor High School . Blake listens to and feeds back the views of his peers, particularly excelling during the Sustainability Panel session. He has shown great resilience, organisation and professional conduct, and is a brilliant advocate for students in our Trust.
