Peter Baldry Second Art Project
Posted 30th May 2024
Earlier in the year, children from years 1 to 6 got involved in an exciting Art project. We were joined in school by artist Peter Baldry who was set the task of creating an awe-inspiring installation in our EYFS and KS1 break out space. After a period of consultation it was decided that the project would be an enchanted forest complete with fire breathing dragon!
The children helped to paint the cardboard structures following specific colour schemes and patterns. The children all learned some new art techniques and had great fun working collaboratively to pull the project together. The final results were stunning and 'Stoney the Dragon' (named after our departing school caretaker) now takes pride of place flying high in his enchanted forest overlooking the breakout space.
Just before half term Peter once again joined us in school for a second art project. This time the whole school got involved, including our Reception and Nursery children, The brief for this project was to create art for our new library. The artwork links to Antarctica and involves several 'life-size' sculptures of penguins and an accompanying mural of the 'southern lights' across a snowy landscape. The pictures below are just a snap shot of the 'work-in-progress' project. Final pictures of the finished art, in place in the library, will be shared in the next few weeks. As ever, the children were all incredible and did a brilliant job. We cant wait to see their final efforts on show in the finished space!
