Ian Tucker appointed as new CEO

Posted 16th October 2025

Red Kite Learning Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Tucker as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective February 2026.

Ian brings a wealth of experience across all phases of education. Originally from Ilkley, he began his career as a Religious Education teacher in Saltaire before moving into a range of leadership roles in junior, primary and secondary schools — including two large secondary schools and an Executive Principal position.

He is currently Chief Executive Officer of a multi-academy trust with seven primary schools, three secondary schools and a sixth form college. Ian has also served as a trustee and on a SCITT management board, supporting teacher training and professional development.

Ian’s leadership style and values align closely with Red Kite Learning Trust’s mission to improve life chances for young people. He is known for leading with care, energy, self-awareness and resilience.

As we welcome Ian, the Trust would like to extend sincere thanks to Richard Sheriff, who has led Red Kite Learning Trust with exceptional dedication since its formation over a decade ago. Richard’s vision and tireless commitment have been instrumental in shaping the Trust’s success. He will work closely with Ian over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover ahead of his well-earned retirement.

Chris Tulley, Chair of Trustees, said:

“Richard has been a truly inspirational leader, and his legacy will be felt for many years to come. We are confident that Ian is the right person to take the Trust forward, and we’re excited about the future under his leadership.”

We look forward to welcoming Ian to Red Kite Learning Trust and working with him as we continue to provide the best possible education and opportunities for every young person in our care.
