Stories from Across our Trust

At Red Kite Learning Trust, we embrace technology as a powerful tool to enhance learning and support innovation. This page highlights inspiring stories from across our schools, showcasing how digital tools and creative approaches are transforming education and helping our communities thrive.

Harnessing Technology to Boost Attainment

Whitkirk Primary School has strategically integrated technology to enhance pupil learning and raise academic achievement. By implementing tools like the CENTURY TECH learning platform, the school uses personalised, adaptive learning experiences that support both classroom instruction and homework. This approach has led to notable improvements in pupil performance, with some children making significant progress in a short time. Additionally, the school focuses on the development of spoken language skills, recognising the strong link between oracy and writing proficiency. Through targeted training and mentoring, colleagues at Whitkirk Primary School have fostered a culture where communication skills are prioritised, resulting in higher attainment levels across key stages.

Tech-Enhanced Student Support at Harrogate Grammar School

Colleagues at Harrogate Grammar School have this term become Student Advocates, working with one or more students on the SEND support register. As part of the Advocate process, teaching and pastoral staff have met with students, co-produced targets and subsequently met with parents to share these targets. The first cycle has enabled colleagues to become confident in using Provision Maps while entering subject comments and targets for students, and the scheme aims to centralise information about learners ready for staff to use in September. An overwhelming majority of staff surveyed after the cycle strongly agreed that the initiative would allow them to know students better, increase awareness of their barriers and feel more confident in supporting them from September. The scheme will continue into next year, where each term colleagues will work through the graduated assess, plan, do, review approach to review the targets set and adapt based on need, after meeting with children and their parents.

Western Primary Named Apple Regional Training Centre

We’re proud to share that Western Primary School has been named an Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) for 2024–25. This recognition reflects the school’s innovative use of technology to enhance teaching and learning, and its commitment to sharing expertise with others across the region.

As an Apple RTC, Western will host free training sessions for educators, helping them explore creative ways to integrate Apple technology into the classroom. This achievement highlights the school’s leadership in digital learning and its ongoing drive to empower both staff and students through the use of tech.

Crawshaw Academy Students Compose Soundtracks with Music Technology

Students at Crawshaw Academy have been exploring the world of Film Music and Technology as part of their music curriculum. The project focused on how music can shape the mood of a film and support storytelling on screen.

Using music technology software and digital tools, students composed original soundtracks for a range of film scenes. They experimented with different instruments, sounds and effects to create the perfect atmosphere to match the visuals.

The project not only developed their understanding of how music enhances a narrative but also encouraged creativity and collaboration. Staff were impressed by the imagination and individuality shown in the students’ compositions, with each piece bringing a unique interpretation to the scene.

This hands-on experience highlights Crawshaw Academy’s commitment to creative learning and the integration of technology in the arts.
