A Celebration of Empowerment and Inclusion in Education
On Friday 5th July, Red Kite Alliance proudly hosted its seventh biennial Red Kite Day conference for our secondary, all-through and special Alliance partner schools. This year’s inspiring event was dedicated to the themes of empowerment and inclusion and brought together approaching 1000 colleagues for a series of thought-provoking keynote speeches, dynamic workshops and collaborative sessions.
Secondary Deputies Group
Our Secondary Curriculum Deputies continue to regularly come together to meet with our Director of Education, Erica Hiorns. They have been exploring ways of working more closely with one another, sharing good practice and reducing workload for colleagues in our schools. The group is also drawing up a Red Kite Pupil Entitlement document where we determine what every pupil in our Trust should be entitled to and enabled to do. We hope to use this document as a starting point for all strategic plans, placing the child at the centre of everything we do.
Primary Maths Curriculum Day
In April, Maths Leads from each of the ten Red Kite Learning Trust primary schools gathered at our central office to take participate in a Collaborative Workshop looking at our Primary Maths Curriculum. The session was led by Libby Sims, our Primary Maths Lead and a teacher at Rossett Acre Primary School.
Leadership Matters Conference
Two recently appointed Assistant Headteachers at Harrogate Grammer School, Victoria Gee and Jason Hill, were given the fantastic opportunity to attend a Leadership Matters conference with Andy Buck. This was not only a chance to network with Senior Leaders across Red Kite Alliance but also allowed the space for them to reflect on the strengths and style of themselves as leaders and their Senior leadership team. They then had the time to consider how they can develop their own leadership and teamwork skills, and what practical ideas they could deliver in the short and long term to drive growth in their school.
