Red Kite Teacher Training is an outstanding school-based provider of initial teacher training in North and West Yorkshire. We prepare confident, skilled, evidence-informed teachers who make a real difference to children’s learning and lives. In partnership with schools and the University of Leeds, we offer a range of pathways into teaching, including postgraduate, undergraduate and apprenticeship routes, that give trainees the knowledge, classroom experience and professional skills needed to thrive in the profession.
Routes into Teaching
Red Kite Teacher Training offers a range of flexible pathways to suit different stages of your career:

BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS - a three-year undergraduate degree in partnership with the University of Leeds for those starting their journey into teaching.

Postgraduate (PGCE with QTS) - one-year school-based training for graduates available for Primary, Secondary and SEND routes.

Part-time options for Primary courses, offering greater flexibility over two-years.

Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeships a paid route to Qualified Teacher Status.

Assessment Only Route for experienced unqualified teachers.
All routes are designed to develop confident, reflective teachers through expert mentoring, evidence-informed practice and real classroom experience.


Training in Partnership with Schools
Trainees spend the majority of their training based in schools, supported by experienced mentors and professional development teams. Many trainees go on to secure teaching posts within partner schools following completion of their training.
Working with Red Kite Teacher Training provides high-quality mentor training and professional development opportunities for Red Kite Learning Trust staff.
