Two wonderful new murals at OJS

It’s been a busy year for Arts Committee and Art with three major artworks created and a lot to catch up on.

A big thank you to all the children who have worked hard in the Art and DT lessons this year developing confidence in their drawings, designing incredible eco houses, self-portraits and creating interesting recipes that would put Jamie Oliver to shame!

Thank you to Isla and Lucy for helping A.J to create a new mural for the Hub. The mural was designed by artist A.J in Owls, working as a team these amazing talented children spent many lunch times painting and drawing to create this incredible mural.

A huge thank you also to the extraordinary team effort of our after-school Art Club with Miss Joseph where members and honorary members of Arts Committee designed, collaborated, and painted a new mural for the Phonics Room. We celebrated our many weeks of hard work last Wednesday after school with cakes and strawberries. I am incredibly proud of our young artists for their enthusiasm, dedication, and determination to complete this wonderful mural.

It’s been a privilege working with all the children and incredible staff at OJS not only this year but for the last 10 years and an honour to create a bespoke art curriculum inspired by children that pushes the perceived expectations of what children really can achieve in primary art education.
