Joining our Trust
You are here :

Red Kite Learning Trust was established in 2015 and is based in Harrogate. We are a family of 16 schools across North and West Yorkshire, educating more than 10,000 children and young people from nursery to sixth form.

We welcome conversations with schools and multi-academy trusts interested in joining us and sharing our commitment to providing high-quality education and opportunities for every child.

Why join us?

A supportive network

We combine the resources and expertise of a multi-academy trust with close working relationships between our schools. Our colleagues share knowledge, experience and good practice to support continuous improvement.

A diverse family of schools

Our schools span nursery, primary, junior, secondary and all-through education, bringing a breadth of experience and opportunities to collaborate.

Shared values and purpose

We are committed to equality, social justice and improving outcomes for all children and young people, particularly those facing social or economic disadvantage. Through the Red Kite Foundation, we also help provide additional opportunities and experiences for children who need them most.

Developing people and practice

Through Red Kite Education and our wider Red Kite Alliance, we support professional development, teacher training and leadership development, helping colleagues and schools thrive.

A collaborative approach

Our Trust strategy is shaped by working together with school leaders, colleagues, trustees and young people. We value the individual identity of each school while working towards shared goals.

Our approach to partnership

Joining Red Kite Learning Trust begins with informal discussions to understand each other’s priorities and ambitions.

If both parties wish to explore the opportunity further, we undertake a two-way due diligence process covering areas including education, governance, finance, HR, legal matters and premises. If agreement is reached, legal advisers support the formal process.

Trust services and funding

Schools joining the Trust currently contribute 5% of their annual grant income to fund central services, including:

  • HR, payroll and finance

  • Estates and premises support

  • School improvement

  • ICT systems and strategic support

  • Procurement

  • Legal, health and safety and data protection advice

  • Red Kite Alliance membership

Capital funding is allocated across the Trust according to identified priorities, helping maintain safe, warm and dry learning environments. Devolved Formula Capital is pooled to support investment in ICT infrastructure.
